SOVIET RUSSIAN RED ARMY MAJOR GENERAL'S UNIFORM,'70's-'80's, COMPLETE VG SZ 42R
1970's-'80's, COMPLETE as shown and described, in VG-almost EXC condition, in a good size, SIZE 42R The uniform is of a light OD-ish brown color, and includes: 1 tunic, with gold wire, laurel branch embroidery on the collars, and bright red piping on the cuffs and collar, and OD silk shoulder boards with the single, embroidered wire star of a major general, 2 a pair of matching trousers with general officers' bright red leg stripes (lampasi), consisting of two broad stripes and a length of piping in the middle, down the outside side seams, size approximately is 32-34" in the waist, and a length of about 32", 3 an EXCELLENT condition (almost new) general officer's, coarse-woven, olive green service shirt (with the general's pebbled plastic domed buttons on the pockets and cuffs), and also featuring the proper major general's shirt shoulder boards, 4 and, to top it off, a correct olive-green, silky, pre-knotted general's necktie, virtually EVERYTHING being in VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT, PLUS CONDITION. The tunic buttons are a mixed lot, having been replaced often, it seems, and date from the'70's to the 1980's, which is a good indication of the age of the tunic. The size of the shirt looks to be appropriate to the size on the tunic. There are NO badges or ribbon bar included with this uniform, though the tunic does show two holes on the right breast (and two corresponding screwplate marks on the interior lining), where two screwpost badges once were mounted.
These uniforms have become difficult to obtain, what with the current, nasty conflict raging between Russia and the Ukraine. BOTH of these uniforms, among others, were brought from Russia, by me personally, during one of my first visits there in 1993, and have been in my personal collection, in a smoke and odor-free environment, ever since that time.
